Endorsement: Danny Goad for 6th District Chair

I and others here at the VA Social Conservative endorse Danny Goad for chair of the 6th District. He has served with distinction as the Giles County Chair, the Botetourt Vice-Chair, a Hampton School Board member, and as a campaign coordinator. Unlike many in the party, he has been successful in recruiting & training new people. I for one - am proof of this. Through his leadership in the Botetourt party, he has been a beacon for Constitutional principles throughout the 6th district.

Danny Goad will work to hold our elected Representatives accountable to the principles expressed in the Republican Creed. Danny Goad will encourage true conservative Republicans to compete for the nomination against RINO’S and moderate Republicans.

His opponent says she knows no liberal Republicans.

Danny Goad says we need to strongly support PRO-LIFE Legislators like Bob Marshall that sponsor Pro-Life legislation like the “Personhood” bill and find competition for all legislators who say they are pro-life but are pro-life in word only.

His opponent says referring to Republican legislators if you agree with me 80 percent of the time you are my friend and I don’t care if you’re Pro-Choice. This is in spite of the fact two Republicans defeated Bob Marshall’s personhood bill this year in sub-committee.

Danny Goad believes the grassroots can only be effective from the bottom-up not the top-down. Danny Goad takes marching orders from you the citizens and Principles of the Constitution and not the leadership of the party. Danny Goad will make the Sixth District responsive to the Grassroots.

His opponent when questioned about the intention of a politician said, “I know he will do what is best for us. He has our best interests at heart”.

Danny Goad believes the Republican Party is at its best when it is not fearful of mentioning or honoring God our Creator. God has endowed us with our fundamental rights.

Danny Goad promotes the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment was adopted for two purposes: self defense and to defend ourselves against a tyrannical government.
It was not adopted by our Founding Fathers so that we could all go duck or white-tailed deer hunting. If it was adopted to preserve duck hunting, our Founding Fathers would have had an amendment proclaiming our Right to Keep and Bear a Fishing Rod.

VCDL Endorses Bolling and Cuccinelli

The Virginia Civil Defense League (VCDL) just issued their endorsements for the RPV 2009 State Convention. They endorsed Bill Bolling for Lieutenant Governor, and Ken Cuccinelli for Attorney General. While these two men are traditionally thought of as social conservatives, they have proven themselves over their careers as people who fight for our second amendment rights. The VCDL did not endrose Bob McDonnell simply because he is not in a nomination contest at the convention.

The Republican Party is holding a Convention on May 29-30, 2009, to select
candidates to run for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General in the General
Election. VCDL-PAC is endorsing a candidate for each of these positions at the
Republican Convention:

LT. GOVERNOR: William T. "Bill" Bolling. This endorsement is based on the
excellent record Lt Governor Bolling established representing the interests of
Virginia gun owners during his career in the Virginia General Assembly, as well
as his forthright and unequivocal 100% pro-gunanswers to the VCDL Candidate
Survey. The Bolling campaign website is:http://www.billbolling.com/

ATTORNEY GENERAL: Kenneth T. "Ken" Cuccinelli, II. Despite being from
Northern Virginia, Senator Cuccinelli has been among the stalwart leaders in
protecting the 2nd Amendment in the Virginia State Senate year after year –-
even when he is viciously attacked for such stands in his home district. In
addition, he has answered the VCDL candidate survey strongly pro-gun. Senator
Cuccinelli has supported us in very tough circumstances, now here’s your chance
to return the favor. The Cuccinelli campaign website is: http://www.cuccinelli.com/

This Convention provides supporters of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms
(RKBA) in Virginia the opportunity to select pro-gun candidates for the
Republican Party. Fewer than 5,000 activists will decide the nominations, so
those who care about the issues will make all the difference. I highly
encourage you to register as a Delegate at the Republican Convention to ensure
that the RKBA is strongly represented.

A link to the Convention filing deadlines and forms is:http://www.cuccinelli.com/meetings.htm

Contact your family, friends, and fellow 2nd Amendment activists and get
them to sign up to attend the Convention TODAY.

Sincerely,
Kenneth M. Elliott, Jr.Chairman, VCDL-PAC

The Obama Administration: If you can't ban guns, why not ban ammunition

It looks like the Obama administration might be bypassing the legislature in an attempt to unilaterally ban your second amendment rights.

State Department Floating Ammo Import Ban

It looks like those who said the Obama Administration would strike while the iron is hot may have been correct, and the Administration may be doing it in a way that does not require them to even get a vote in Congress. In this morning's edition of the Shooting Wire, Jim Shepherd writes that Canadian officials have it on "good authority" our State Department may be on the verge of cutting off all imports of certain calibers of ammunition.

Ammos listed for this rumored ban include the .50BMG, 7.62x39mm Soviet, 7.62x51mm NATO, .308 Winchester, 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington. Additionally, we're hearing that an expansion of this proposed ban might be broadened to include the 6.8mm SPC, 9mm Parabellum, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP- among others.

In other words, State Department officials may be floating a trial balloon to see if there are howls of protest, or whimpers of compliance. Canadian elected officials who have directed this information to me say the move seems to be motivated by "emboldened" anti-gun officials who think they have a kindred spirit in President Obama.
Shepherd continues that there may also be a plan to ban exports on certain firearms to Canada from the US, resulting in the State Department hammering gun manufacturers, distributors and exporters in the United States while simultaneously making firearms -and ammunition - ownership and acquisition more difficult for Canadians.

Many in the pro-rights community have said since the election that Obama could circumvent Congress by using regulations in his various cabinet departments to attack gun owners. It appears that it may have already begun.
